History

i-Lit Limited was founded in 2006 with the mission of bringing no nonsense straight talking advice to the legal industry on all issues relating to electronic disclosure.

It soon became apparent that the first pass review of documentation for disclosure carried out in litigation is an area of great expense and complication for law firms and that they are under pressure from their clients to find less expensive, more effective ways of carrying it out. Many larger firms are now looking to outsource this work to offshore companies.

Document review may not be the sexy cutting edge practice of law that so many graduates are drawn to, but the reality is that if you don't get a training contract whilst at law school and you still have the ambition to follow a career in the law, you'll probably spend some time reviewing documents as a paralegal (alongside the "stars" who got the training contracts). In fact it is a well travelled route to getting noticed as a possible trainee by a litigation department.

i-Lit Paralegals has been set up to provide a cost effective alternative to off-shoring which offers value for money whilst allowing law firms to retain close control of the review process.
